How to get water in Nomad Drive

Last verified: 2026-10-30

Thirst is one of the three needs Nomad Drive drains, and dehydration triggers the vignette warning from the 22 June 2026 patch.

Water lives in containers. A June thread lists a bucket of water, a water jug, and two water bottles as what people were holding. A 30 October thread says a bucket can catch rain. Nobody in that thread answered whether you must boil it.

Filling a container

Use this as a search order, not as keybinds. The threads never agree on a button.

  • Search buildings and abandoned vehicles for bottles, a jug, and a bucket before you drive far.
  • Drink from the container you are holding. I am not naming a key, because the posts do not settle one.
  • In rain, the October thread’s method is the bucket. Treat “safe to drink raw” as unanswered.
  • The same water is what players pour into the radiator. If you empty the jug into the engine, the thirst bar is the next problem.

What I will not add

I found no reliable post that names a water tower, a pump, or a filter as a mechanic. A desert screenshot on this page is the setting, not a map of wells. Thirst points per hour are also unpublished.

Questions

How do you get water in Nomad Drive?

Loot bottles, a jug, or a bucket. One player thread says the bucket also catches rain.

Do I boil rainwater?

The thread that mentions rain asks that and does not get an answer. I am not inventing a boil step.
